The definition of a forklift truck is a machine that has a mast and an elevating load carriage that lifts the load into the air. The operator travels in the machine and does not walk behind and the operator remains on the ground level at all times

LO class – Order picking forklift truck licence
This licence is needed to operate the following types of forklift trucks
• Order picking forklift truck
• Turret Truck
Order picking forklift trucks are commonly used in businesses that send out orders of varying product types and quantities to their clients

The definition of an order picking forklift truck is a machine where the operator is elevated into the air with the load. In the case of an order picking forklift the operator would pick the load from adjacent pallet racking by hand. They would then place it onto the platform/pallet and then repeat until an order of goods has been retrieved

The Turret truck differs in the fact that this style of order picking forklift is designed to retrieve an entire palletised load from the pallet racking in the same fashion as a conventional forklift would but this can be done in a much narrower space. The Turret truck requires an LO class licence because the operator is raised into the air whilst the pallet is retrieved
